Some useful tips I thought I would share with you:
  1. Start your application well in advance. There is a concept of Rolling Admits. They won't wait till the deadline is over and then start. As soon as they receive your application even if its before the deadline, they start checking your application. If you are thru, you get admit beforehand. And during the initial stages, when there is not much rush, they can carefully go through your materials. I would like to comment on a intuitive basis that the number of applications received will increase exponentially. Overall, applying early helps in increasing your chances of getting through.
  2. Some places like Texas are cheap places to live. California is the costliest place. But California has Silicon Valley. People easily get internships and jobs there (anyways Texas is a good place with lots of industries). The east coast is terribly cold during the winters, Texas is terribly hot during summers. California has the best climate in USA. You must take these into considerations if you happen to get sick to winter or other such reasons.
  3. Maintain a backup of your materials in a CD or better online.
Next : Final Stage!
